Columns

ColumnDescription
fylke_nr2-digit zero-padded fylke code, e.g. '03' = Oslo. Text, not integer — the padding is significant.
fylke_nameThe county name as SSB Klass publishes it.
fylke_name_altThe Sámi variant where there is one, split out of upstream's combined "Name - Nama" string exactly as dim_kommune does it. Null where upstream publishes no variant.
is_activeWhether this code is CURRENT. 🔴 Not "is this a county" — '99 Uoppgitt' is an active code and is not a place. See is_sentinel.
valid_fromFirst date this code was in use, as SSB Klass records it.
valid_toLast date this code was in use; null while the code is current.
notesUpstream's own remarks about the code, passed through unedited.
updated_atWhen Atlas last loaded this row from SSB Klass.
is_sentinel🔴 True for the '99 Uoppgitt' residual, which is a bucket and not a county. Derived by Atlas, not an upstream column — published because dim_kommune already carries the same flag for its own 9999 bucket, and a consumer who learned the filter on one relation would otherwise silently not have it on the other.

Sample query

Live PostgREST query that returns the first 5 rows. URL adapts to the current host — local dev shows api-atlas.localhost; the deployed site shows the configured API base.

About this view

The county dimension: one row per fylke code, current and historical. The county dimension — the sibling of dim_kommune that was not published, so a consumer joining at fylke level was rebuilding this mapping, each slightly differently. ⚠️ 35 distinct codes resolve here; 16 appear on at least one ACTIVE kommune (15 real fylker + residual '99 Uoppgitt'). Filter ?is_active=eq.true for today's set rather than reading a row count. Sourced from SSB Klass classification 104 (NLOD).
